Paul Torrens is at the centre of what I consider to be one of the most interesting convergences of geography, modelling and yes, perhaps a smidge of psychology as well. His website showcases much of his recent work, including some appealing geomatic eye candy showing how he's taking advantage of some nice tools that are available for mapping space along with an approach based on autonomous agent modelling, in which actual people are simulated using bits of computer code that follow a few simple rules. He's into everything from definitions and simulations of suburban sprawl to trying to use spatial analyses to understand how social life is regulated in pre-schoolers.
